Privacy Policy
Guernik and Partners Pty Ltd (ABN 44 692 416 783) (“Vantag”, “we”, “us”, “our”) operates Vantag.co, a buyer-intelligence service for real estate. This policy explains how we handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
1. Our role. When a real estate agent or agency invites a buyer to view a property page, the inviting agent or agency decides who is invited and why, and is responsible for the relationship with that buyer. We provide the technology and process information on the agent's behalf, as well as for our own website visitors.
2. What we collect. For agents we work with, we hold business contact details such as name, email, phone, and agency. For buyers who open a property page, we collect the name, email, and phone that the inviting agent has entered, together with behavioural information generated while the page is open: which sections of the page are viewed, how long is spent on each section (for example the photos, the floor plan, and the price), scroll depth, photos opened, whether the price is viewed, and clicks on calls to action. We also record device, operating system, browser, screen, local time, and an approximate city or country worked out from the IP address. This information is linked to the buyer so that the inviting agent can understand which features interest that buyer and follow up helpfully.
3. How we notify buyers. A buyer is told, on the property page itself, that the page measures engagement to help their agent follow up. This notice appears when the page is opened, and links to this policy. We do not record health information, financial hardship details, or any other sensitive information as defined in the Privacy Act, and our tracking is configured to avoid capturing it.
4. Why we collect it. We collect this information to operate property pages, to show the inviting agent which features interest a buyer, and to suggest who the agent might prioritise and what they might discuss. The behavioural information is not sensitive information. It is used to help a human agent decide how to follow up; we do not make automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on any buyer.
5. Who we share it with. We share buyer information with the inviting agent or agency. We also use service providers who process information on our behalf, including our hosting and content delivery provider, our database provider, and an IP geolocation provider that returns an approximate location. A current list of these providers is on our sub-processors page. We do not sell personal information.
6. Overseas disclosure. Some of our service providers may store or process information outside Australia. Where that happens, we take reasonable steps to ensure the information is handled consistently with the APPs. Our sub-processors page identifies the relevant providers.
7. How long we keep it. We keep buyer behavioural information while the related campaign is active and for up to twelve months afterwards. We keep agent business contact details while we are working together and for up to twenty four months afterwards, unless a longer period is required by law. We then delete or de-identify it.
8. Your choices. A buyer can ask not to be measured, and we honour browser Do Not Track signals where they are sent. Asking not to be measured does not affect the buyer's ability to view the property page.
9. Accessing and correcting your information, and complaints. You can ask us for access to the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or make a privacy complaint, through our our contact form. We will respond within a reasonable time. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
10. Changes to this policy. We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always the one published on this page, with the date shown above.
